Lasseters Appoints new Health Club Manager

As Lasseters’ $35million developments enter the final stages, a newly created position of Health Club Manager has been appointed.

Matt Straight has been in the fitness industry since 1999, progressing from trainer and receptionist to nutritionist and general manager in the New Zealand, Philippines, India and Australia, as well as writing a book “Filipino Cuisine Made Healthy”.  He is currently area manager for five women’s fitness centres throughout Sydney.  Matt commences at Lasseters in early March.

"After setting up and managing fitness centres in four countries, I'm looking forward to creating a premium health club which offers Alice Springs residents and guests of Lasseters the best fitness experience in Central Australia."

Lasseters Health Club will feature the latest in weights and cardio equipment along with scheduled classes and a massage treatment centre. Membership will be available for the public to purchase and will include optional use of the heated pool (including lap lanes) and spa. Lasseters hotel guests will also have unlimited usage during their stay.

Details of membership options and special opening offers will be rolled out in April along with new branding, which has been developed by local design agency Bellette. The Health Club operations will result in the employment of an estimated 10 full time equivalent staff.

Chris Sartori, Lasseters Chief Operating Officer comments; “We’re looking forward to Matt joining the Lasseters team and the opening of the Health Club midyear that will not only broaden our product offering to our core customer base but also create value add opportunities to attract the business events and incentive markets all of which will help strengthen tourism in Alice Springs.”

The Health Club is part of the same building that will house a new dedicated hotel reception, with the existing hotel reception turning into an entrance for the casino as well as restaurants Tali, Juicy Rump and Sukra.

Construction is due to be completed in July, with a grand opening planned for August.
